This seagull deterrent Hawk Kite system is robust, it has to be to put up with the conditions out on the water after all, and is cleverly designed. There are so many copies of the Scarem Marine Marine system yet not one of them comes anywhere near the quality or strength of the Scarem Marine system. The Scarem Marine has a very strong pole which comes in four sections. Each section screws into the next and at the top of the pole there is a large swivel, so when the tide turns (which it does, twice a day!) the Scare’m will swing around 180 degrees with the boat and not become tangled. The copies of the Marine Scare’m wrap themselves up in a couple of days whereas the Marine Scare’m just keeps on working for you, whether you are onboard or not!
The Marine Scare’m has a shorter, much stiffer pole than the standard agricultural Scare’m. This is important as you want your Hawk Kite flying in a fixed area on the boat. The pole comes in four robust fixed sections which screw together and the fully carbon-framed Hawk Kite flies on a short line, with swivels incorporated into the line in addition to the large swivel located at the top of the pole. The Marine Scare’m is designed to slot into a fishing rod holder and if you do not have one on your vessel, we have them available to purchase. The Marine Scare’m comes with one or two sheets of rubber in the kit, this is so that you can wrap part of the rubber sheet around the base of the pole as a filler to make sure it fits snugly into the rod holder. Finally, we have a cleat on the base of the pole, this is to allow you to tie the pole down to your boat to avoid any possibility that your Scare’m might flee the nest in heavy weather!
