Scare’m Vineyard & Orchard Complete

The Vineyard Scare’m has the longest pole in our range, it is 10 meters in length to allow the Hawk Kite to fly high above the Vineyard Trellises or Fruit Trees without running the risk of having the Hawk Kite dive into the crop. Being able to fly the Hawk Kite in the center of the Vineyard or Orchard without fear of the Hawk getting tangled in the tall crops below gives this bird scaring the advantage of visibility over a greater area. It is also far more cost-effective than netting and in reality, you only have to fly the bird scarer for about six weeks of the year when the fruit is at its most vulnerable to birds. The pole is so large it takes double the amount of fiberglass to make this pole than it does our standard 7-meter Scare’m Pole. The pole is very strong and features a new locking system which can be used to stop the pole from slipping down overnight, also the locking system can be put into action where the pole is in hard-to-reach inaccessible places.

We have found so many new uses for the Vineyard / Orchard Scare’m over the years, meaning it is extremely versatile. There are customers with old thatched houses which are so delicate that it would simply not be possible to fix a regular Scare’m to the building so a Vineyard Scare’m would be used. The Vineyard Scare’m would be located in the garden adjacent to the house and the Hawk would fly at heights of up to 19 meters which would easily allow the Hawk to fly about the thatched roof and deter Rooks pulling pieces of thatch out of the roof to take back to their roosts.

In Canada, we have used some Vineyard Scare’ms out in the Bay on floating platforms, because out there the Scare’m will naturally rock back and forth, whipping the Hawk Kite with it but we have found with our 10-meter pole deployed on the raft, the double whip in the pole counteracts the wave action and successfully keeps the Hawk Kite steady.

Finally, we have also seen it being used in Norway in Christmas tree plantations to stop young Rooks from coming in and ruining maybe seven years of growth in one tree, rendering them completely useless!
